5. 발표 내용
A growing demand for electric vehicles and energy storage systems requires further performance improvement of
lithium-ion batteries and development of alternative energy storage technologies. Along this line, many companies
and researchers are trying to build energy-related material design platform to reduce the time needed to discover
new materials and enhance material properties. Accordingly, computational science has been considered a very
important approach in designing battery materials and will play a critical role in providing systematic and rational
solutions to overcome energy density limitations with cycle life and fast charging properties for the current materials
used in rechargeable batteries. In this talk, computational science based on first-principles calculations coupled with
machine learning and screening process for designing battery materials such as cathodes and anodes is introduced
with various intriguing concepts depending on target physics.
